INTERNATIONAL GITA MAHOTSAV

Kurukshetra, Haryana (15 November to 5 December 2025)

About Haryana State Pavilion

The Haryana State Pavilion is a centerpiece of the International Gita Mahotsav (IGM) and is considered a “mirror of Haryanvi culture,” designed to showcase the state’s rich heritage to the lakhs of national and international visitors who attend the festival in Kurukshetra. It is typically set up in a prominent location, such as the Draupadi Koop area or the Purushotam Pura Bagh on the banks of the Brahma Sarovar, and is often a joint effort of Kurukshetra University and the state’s Art and Culture Department.

The pavilion’s primary focus is on displaying the folk art, ancient cultural heritage, and traditional life of Haryana. Visitors can expect to see exhibits featuring traditional arts, handicrafts, cultural artifacts, and symbolic Haryanvi structures like traditional huts. Young artists from the state actively participate, presenting live folk art and cultural performances that reflect the unique spirit and traditions of Haryana.

Beyond culture, the pavilion also serves a developmental and informative role. It features a state-level exhibition, often high-tech, which is used to portray Haryana’s roadmap toward becoming a developed state by 2047, highlighting the achievements and future plans of various government departments. This includes promoting indigenous products in line with the vision of a self-reliant India. A unique feature often displayed is the Bhagavad Gita written in multiple global languages. Furthermore, the pavilion offers an enhanced visitor experience by setting up popular attractions like selfie points, one of which recently featured the majestic Virat Swaroop (Universal Form) of Lord Krishna. For the 2025 Mahotsav, a special emphasis was also placed on showcasing Haryana’s distinct culinary identity by offering a taste of authentic Haryanvi flavours.
