About Haryana Pavilion

The Haryana State Pavilion is a flagship exhibition at the International Gita Mahotsav (IGM), designed to act as a “mirror of Haryanvi culture” and is strategically located on the banks of the sacred Brahma Sarovar.

It serves several key purposes:

  1. Cultural Showcase: The primary focus is on promoting Haryana’s rich folk art, traditions, and ancient cultural heritage. The pavilion features displays of traditional huts, cultural artifacts, and various forms of local artistry, giving visitors a tangible glimpse into the state’s rural life and historical significance.

  2. Live Performances: The venue is a hub for live cultural programs, where young artists present traditional Haryanvi music and dance forms, enriching the cultural environment of the Mahotsav.

  3. Modern Identity & Development: Beyond heritage, the pavilion showcases the state’s modern achievements and development roadmap. It often includes a state-level exhibition highlighting the progress and plans of various government departments and promoting the vision of a self-reliant India through indigenous products.

  4. Special Attractions: To enhance the visitor experience, the pavilion often features unique attractions, such as:

    • Selfie Points: Including one featuring the majestic Virat Swaroop (Universal Form) of Lord Krishna.

    • Podcast Interviews: A dedicated space for conducting interviews with dignitaries and visitors about Haryana’s culture.

    • Culinary Identity: Special counters or displays promoting the authentic Haryanvi cuisine and flavors.

  5. Organizational Effort: The pavilion is typically a collaborative effort, organized under the joint auspices of Kurukshetra University, the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB), and the state’s Art and Culture Department, with its inauguration often being done by high-profile figures like the Defence Minister.

In essence, the Haryana Pavilion blends the state’s deep-rooted spiritual connection to the Bhagavad Gita with its vibrant cultural identity and vision for the future, making it a must-visit component of the International Gita Mahotsav.
