About Craft Fair International Gita Mahotsav
The Craft Fair at the International Gita Mahotsav, officially known as the Saras and Crafts Mela (or Shilp Mela), is a highly anticipated component of the overall festival held in Kurukshetra. This massive exhibition is set up along the banks of the sacred Brahma Sarovar and runs for the entire duration of the Mahotsav, typically from mid-November to early December. For the 2025 event, the Mela is expected to be active from approximately November 15 to December 5. The fair serves as a vital platform for artisans and craftsmen from all across India, allowing them to showcase and sell their traditional handicrafts, textiles, pottery, jewelry, and regional artifacts, thereby promoting the diverse cultural heritage of India and supporting local economies. Furthermore, the IGM elevates the fair to an international level by including a Foreign Craft Fair, where artisans from partner nations and various other invited countries display their own unique, traditional art and culture, turning the area into a true confluence of global craftsmanship and spiritual thought. The central goal is to offer substantial economic opportunities to craftsmen, self-help groups, and weavers while providing visitors with an immersive cultural and shopping experience alongside the spiritual events of the Gita Mahotsav.
