About Bhajan Sandhya at International Gita Mahotsav

The Bhajan Sandhya at the International Gita Mahotsav (IGM) is a central spiritual and cultural event that runs daily throughout the duration of the festival.

  • What it is: The term Bhajan Sandhya translates to “Evening of Devotional Songs.” It is a divine and spiritual confluence of music, devotion, and peace (शांति, भक्ति और अध्यात्म), where professional singers and groups present devotional songs (bhajans) dedicated to Lord Krishna and the philosophical themes of the Bhagavad Gita.

  • Location: This event is held on the banks of the Brahma Sarovar, specifically at the Purushotam Pura Bagh, which is the main ceremonial area.

  • Timing: The Bhajan Sandhya takes place daily in the evening (प्रतिदिन शाम को), typically just before or in conjunction with the grand Maha-Aarti and Deep Daan ceremonies. For the IGM 2025, the Bhajan Sandhya and Maha Aarti are scheduled to be held daily from November 15 to December 5, 2025, with the Maha Aarti and Bhajan Sandhya often starting around 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM and concluding around 6:30 PM.

  • Atmosphere: The musical offering is described as filling the entire atmosphere with spiritual energy (आध्यात्मिक ऊर्जा से सराबोर), enriching the hearts of the spectators with peace, devotion, and joy. It is considered an essential part of the evening program that precedes the main grand Aarti ritual.
